January 26th 2011 - "UK Border Agency Launches Olympic / Paralympic Visit Visa"

Source - UKBA

In November 2010 the UK Border Agency announced the introduction of a special Olympic / Paralympic Visit Visa for the 2012 Games.

This new category of visa is targeted towards athletes, coaches and officials who plan to come to the UK to prepare for or take part in test events for the 2012 Games to be held in London.

Applicants for this category of visa will need to be accredited by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

The visa, while unique, has many of the same characteristics of a 6 month tourist (or visit visa), however holders will be able to undertake activities that are directly related to the Olympic or Paralympic games.
