The Singapore Work Holiday Programme
Source - Ambler Collins
The Work Holiday Programme (WHP) is a scheme that allows university students and recent graduates, between 17 and 30 years old, to come to Singapore for a limited period. Successful applicants can live and work in Singapore for up to six months. It is similar to the Working Holiday visas scheme for the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
Mathew Collins, Director of AmblerCollins explained " With around 50,000+ United Kingdom young citizens taking up Working Holiday visas in New Zealand and Australia each year and circa 30,000 New Zealand and Australian citizens coming to the UK on working holiday visas Singapore is the ideal 6 month working holiday stopover. With the new two mega-Casino complexes due to open and the many other projects under way there is plenty of casual employment available for young working holidaymakers in Singapore. With the explosive growth in youth travel and gap year holidays, Singapore fits nicely into that youth work experience."
The programme is positioned to attract well-qualified youths who are increasingly travelling abroad to gain exposure and experience foreign cultures. This programme allows participants to discover the spectrum of career opportunities available in Singapore and enhance Singapore's reputation as a talent destination, valued for its working and living experiences. It gives them an opportunity to experience and test how they can adapt to the Singapore way of life.
Introduced by the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore, the Work Holiday Programme offers a positive and rewarding experience to foreign university students and recent graduates keen to experience Singapore’s reputation as a talent capital first hand!
If you are a full-time student or recent graduate from a university in Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, the UK or the US, you may be eligible to participate in the pilot scheme of the Work Holiday Programme.
Applicants should be aged between 17 – 30 years old.
You can work and stay for up to six months. You will not be restricted to only specific types of work. Since this is a short work stint, there is also no minimum salary requirement.
There is a requirement to be able to support yourself financially during your time in Singapore. As part of the WHP application process, we require you to declare that you have sufficient funds for your stay and departure
If you have further enquiries on immigration to the UK, NZ, Australia, Singapore or the USA, please contact Ambler Collins and we will undertake a complimentary assessment of your eligibility. Email us at;
