November 29 2007 - New Zealand Shortage of Workers is Putting the Brakers on Business Growth

New Zealand sources are advising that the telecom and construction companies are struggling to find qualified workers and Hudson is reporting that 43.5% of employers are expecting to boost employees in the first half of 2008.

The upper half of the North Island is booming and will take 54% of the sort employee's. All the Bank economists as saying the same - with low employment where are the staff going to be found?

New Zealand is being used as a source for the Australian Queensland and Western Australian construction and mining boom's and so New Zealand will have to go further a-field. In New Zealand Telecom is looking for 300 technicians for its broadband project.

New Zealand's unemployment rate is expected to be 3.3% by the end of next year.
