Skilled Employment
Skilled employment is work that necessitates the use of specialist, technical or management expertise. This expertise may have been gained through the completion of a recognised relevant qualification(s) or previous relevant work experience.
Future Growth Area
There are three broad areas of industry which are identified future growth areas in New Zealand. These are biotechnology, information communications technology, and the creative industries. These future growth areas offer New Zealand considerable opportunity to increase its prosperity.
Area of Absolute Skills
Shortage
These are occupations that have been identified by the New Zealand Immigration authorities as being in high demand in New Zealand. They are listed on the Long Term Skills Shortage List.
Employment outside Auckland
A place of work that is outside the Auckland region attracts bonus points as the New Zealand Immigration authorities want to ensure all of New Zealand can benefit from the skills of people moving there. To qualify for points you will need to prove that your employment is outside the seven local government areas that make up the Auckland region.
These local government areas are as follows:
Rodney District Council;
North Shore City Council; Waitakere City Council;
Auckland City Council;
Manukau City Council;
Papakura District Council;
Franklin District Council.
Expression of Interest (EOI)
The first step to obtaining permanent residency in New Zealand is the
completion of an Expression of Interest application(EOI. This application confirms your interest in migration to New Zealand to live and work.
