Applicants for entry to New Zealand must meet the English language requirements.
If you our any dependants included in your application aged 16 years or over do not meet the minimum standard or are unable to provide an IELTS certificate, you will need to pre-purchase English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tuition which is English language study for completion on arrival in New Zealand.
You will meet the minimum standard of English if:

Your recognised qualification was taught in English.

You have completed an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test and have achieved an overall band score of at least 6.5 in either the General or Academic module*

You are currently working in skilled employment in New Zealand and have been for the last 12 months

You have an English speaking background
