If you are a person talented in arts, culture and sports, you can make an application for a work visa or permit as a step towards residence under the Work to Residence, Talent (Arts, Culture and Sports) Work Policy.
Should your application be successful, you will issue you with a multiple entry work visa or permit that will allow you to live and work in New Zealand for up to 30 months. Once you have lived and worked in New Zealand for two years and been have active in your area of talent, you may apply for residence.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements including health and character, you must also show that:

You are aged under 55 years

You have exceptional talent in your field

You have been sponsored by a New Zealand organisation of national repute.
For Immigration New Zealand to consider that you have exceptional talent you are required to demonstrate that you:

have an international reputation and record of excellence

are still prominent in that field

will enhance New Zealand’s participation and accomplishments in that field.
